Pros

Some divisions are better than others. QCT is a good place to work because it generate consistent cash for the company. QIS, MediaFlo and other divisions are not as good because the respective businesses are not doing well. Excellent healthcare plan. Good vacation package. For most part you can expect a stable work environment and surrounded by generally high quality people.. Consistent pay raises

Cons

bonuses are erratic. Stock options are not worth much nowadays. So unless the company gives RSU's the compensation package is not very attractive. attrition rate is very low so there is a glut of managers who dont have enough work to do. this is leading to a politically charged environment

Pros

Qualcomm is still able to attract some of the smartest people. I think the smartness density has gone down somewhat over the years but people are still above the industry average. Qualcomm offers excellent benefits in health plan, vacation, flex time. Facilities are excellent with multiple gyms available (at least in San Diego location). Norm is to provide an individual office for all engineers which I think is an excellent idea for engineering.

Cons

Qualcomm pay is competitive but is not top rung. Given Qualcomm's size stock options don't have as much upside. I have my doubts about our current CEO, Paul Jacobs. Qualcomm has been very strong in systems and communication theory, but weak in software. There are lot of smart s/w engineers and s/w makes up a large chunk of engineering, but the number of VPs is still more skewed towards comm theory.

Pros

Qualcomm is a truly technology company. If you are an engineer and is thrilled to work on cutting edge technology each morning, Qualcomm is the place. I worked at a division called Qualcomm MEMS Technologies, which produces leading edge MEMS products for the display industry. The parent company invested well and provided us with many opportunities to experiment and come up with the best ideas. This was a great reason to work for the company. Secondly, the working environment & infrastructure was absolutely great. The company was generous in designing the space, as opposed to several companies which cut corners.

Cons

Most of the managers are engineers, and not well trained managers - so you may not get the best people managers.
