To some extent, QUALCOMM has become like a government office. People who work hard, really work hard but there are slackers who have been here for years and are not fired or laid off. The bonuses and salary is also not great. One problem being in QUALCOMM is that there is no other company in San Diego where you can move and so you have to be satisfied with the salary that QUALCOMM pays you.

Most of the management consists of former engineers who are not necessarily good managers. Weak performance review and coaching system. Weak project management. Extremely big place. Lot of fat in the organization. Most senior places are taken by long-timers and hence small opportunities for long term career growth. Sometimes negelct work-life balance
