Pros

What we do directly affects the warfighter. The company has good benefits and has multiple programs to support the employees. There are ample opportunities for continuing education. The OneRTN philosophy has opened up the different divisions to information sharing. In addition to company holidays, I get 200 hrs (4 weeks) vacation tiem.

Cons

Women do not get equal treatment, though the company policies strive to support equality in the workplace. Many are directed into positions that tend to "pigeon hole' them in areas with little recognition or potential for advancement.

Pros

Good starting pay for recent college grad like myself. Other companies offiered much less money, and Raytheon spends a lot of time, effort and money in recruiting employees. Tucson, Az is a good place to start a career, because it is a small city with a low cost of living. It is a good "stepping stone" job for someone who may want to move on into another field, or just pay down college and/or student loans. The company is large enough that there is enough work here and people are not forced to work outside of their field as in some smaller companies.

Cons

Tucson is a small city, and not the greatest city in arizona, however it is the 2nd largest. It is two hours away from Phoenix, which is significantly nicer. Raytheon Missile System's campus is located in the far south side of town, and in Tucson, the south side of town is not the nicest. This puts the decent housing on the other side of town, somewhat far away. Also, Tucson has a poor freeway system, with just one freeway that crosses towards the west side of town. For many people, it is of no use. Being a large corporation, there is often a lot of red tape to get anything done.

Pros

Raytheon has a great benefits package and competitive salaries. PTO, flex time, medical, educational benefits, profit sharing, a good co-op and intern program, etc., all contribute to making Raytheon a good place to work. Training is not only encouraged, but in many cases mandatory. Internal job site gives visibility to openings throughout the company (Raytheon is an international company)

Cons

Raytheon is primarily a defense company. As such, we develop weapon systems. This is not some place I would recommend if you are a dyed in the wool pacifist. Also, most jobs require security clearances, so employees need to submit to US government background investigations.
