Pros

Competitive starting salary and an abundant amount of paid time off

Cons

Discrimination based on race, gender, body size and sexual orientation are rampant throughout the company. If you are not a white, straight male who is fairly thin, you will not get promoted even if you are a great employee who excels in all the challenges and opportunities presented to you. Also, the employees who are low performers that know how to talk a good game get promoted over the high performers who know how to do the work well. Promotions are not given based on achievments and merit but solely based on office politics and appearances.

Pros

(Middle) Management is supportive of balance between work life and personal life. They recognize when you have done a good job and support your decisions. The compensation is good, but the benefits could have been better (as a co-op student). The learning and networking opportunities were good. The team I worked with was very supportive and I would not hesitate to recommend others to a similar position.

Cons

Top management ignoring or pushing aside some reasonable requests from dedicated employees looking to grow. Seemingly increasing budget cuts each year for our department which makes it hard to accommodate growth and requests of employees.

Pros

Learning that you are the most qualified person there. Think of Raytheon as a giant retirement home, one that protects the Hughes pensions at all costs.

Cons

Working with people who are punching the clock waiting for their retirement (most of them). Arrogance runs supreme, you just have to keep telling yourself that if someone has only worked at Raytheon they are most likely retarded. The level of pure arrogance is astounding. Malaise would be a good word.
