Pros

The location is great. Near the beach, near LAX, near freeway and public transport. As with any large aerospace company, you get decent health benefits, competitive pay, and employee networking groups. Work schedule is quite flexible with the option to work a 9/80.

Cons

In my department, it seems management are too busy to deal with new hires' problems. Unlike other aerospace companies, they don't give you anything to do (constructive or not) while waiting on security clearances. Which can take weeks to months. Other companies will usually find tasks that don't require clearance. Not as social an enviornment as I was expecting. Medium to low morale all around. As with any aerospace company, you are expected to work maybe 50-60 hrs/wk. Pay lower than I expected for aerospace industry.

Pros

Nothing's cooler than working in the defense industry - your work is helping to save lives. RTSC is an especially cool division of Raytheon because, rather than making weapons, we are purely about servicess. Much of our work is support to other divisions of Raytheon, which allows for exposure into a variety of projects, while other work is essentially doing a better job on things than the government could.

Cons

Some jobs require long hours, but that's the nature of work in the defense industry.

Pros

Work is often challenging and compensation reflects that. The company strongly believes in training its employees. Appreciate that senior leadership I'm exposed to often adds value in meetings and project work.

Cons

In some jobs, the worklife balance is non-existent. You are on call 24/7. If you're not an engineer, there is limited upward mobility.
