Pros

Flexible Schedule Nice employee park for basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Lots of vanpools (which could be interpreted as a Con as living near El Segundo is prohibitive since it is either too expensive - like near the beaches, or too undesirable, like east of the 405).

Cons

Disengaged employees. Low moral. Few friendly people willing to say "Good Morning" or "How was your weekend?" People avoid eye contact in the hallways as you walk toward each other. Everyone is into their own thing, low esprit de corps. After-work camaraderie is zero. Employees are paranoid such that will lock their office doors (in unclassified areas) just to go the the restroom. You'll see a half dozen people waiting for the intercampus shuttle and none of them will be speaking to each other. Everyone is on guard and chooses to interface with high personal boundaries. Benefits are way below par for a major aerospace company: A 90/10 PPO for a family is $6000 (six THOUSAND) per year out of your paycheck. The 401(k) match is only 3%. Management is disconnected from other Raytheons in Southern California such as Fullerton and San Diego. It is as if there are several individual Raytheons. So, if you are on the layoff list, your management has little to no visibility to other Raytheon facilities' employment needs and thus they do not pave the way for a transfer to save your job. Boeing for example, is very good at moving people around in this fashion.

Pros

Work life balance is not too bad if you just put in your required forty hours and not let them work you to death.

Cons

This place is horrible! Lack of communication. Inadequate training especially for new hires. New people are left to figure everything out on there own with no training and expected to complete tasks with no direction. Everybody assumes you know what they are talking about and how to complete the work. Trying to figure out how to manipulate the financial systems here is a joke.

Pros

Competitive starting salary and an abundant amount of paid time off

Cons

Discrimination based on race, gender, body size and sexual orientation are rampant throughout the company. If you are not a white, straight male who is fairly thin, you will not get promoted even if you are a great employee who excels in all the challenges and opportunities presented to you. Also, the employees who are low performers that know how to talk a good game get promoted over the high performers who know how to do the work well. Promotions are not given based on achievments and merit but solely based on office politics and appearances.
