Pros

Excellent benefits, excellent people, and good corporate resources provide a sense that the overall organization takes care of its people at a time when defense budgets are getting smaller.

Cons

Internal systems just don't measure up. Management does not act on employee inputs to improve internal business systems, yet can't produce a configuration managed baseline. Organization uses Critical Chain to program detriment. Every IMS task is on critical chain, or so it would seem. CC takes away valuable resources from internal efforts. The internal performance evaluation process is truly the worst. Interim and year end reviews border on navel gaze. Program schedule prevent any effective employee development. The internal management palpable dislike for each other results in constant churn in personnel from program to program. Expect zero continuity and a reorganization every six months. IIS has lost several large programs that have negatively impacted career growth division wide and resulted in the movement of people from program to program in Colorado.

Pros

Big company, can work on very large systems. Stable work for the competent. Managers try hard to avoid laying people off. Opportunities to travel, shift to different things. Depending on project, can be very leading edge technically. Very ethical. People friendly. Diversity stressed.

Cons

Defense work mostly, great for those who like high tech but basically marketing limited to government customers. No frills, don't look for company parties, free coffee, etc. No public transportation.

Pros

I believe Raytheon consistently delivers more technically sound engineering solutions than our competitors. Unfortunately, we historically lack shrewd business sense, which has, at times, cost us contracts. A recent change over in senior management seems to be actively working to improve the company in this area. A great opportunity to work in a variety of roles across all aspects of the business. The company actively encourages professional growth and allows employees flexibility for their personal needs.

Cons

Business scope is often limited by the nature of this industry. Raytheon is primarily known as a missile and radar company. We have tried to expand our repertoire some, but it is often an uphill battle to get people in the company to stretch beyond our company's core competency.
