Pros

Even though its the fair haired step child, it's still part of Raytheon, and there are opportunities to jump ship. If you're content with a stagnant career and just want to wind out the clock, management will not push you to do more. Schedules are hectic, but the flex schedule permits some extra time off without burning PTO. Aging workforce makes it easy for a go-getter to stand out.

Cons

RTSC-Indy gets two fewer holidays than RTSC. RTSC is not Raytheon proper, so there is no profit sharing and wages are lower than the rest of the company. The engineering group in Indianapolis is huge, so be prepared to be treated as a number. Also, senior management doesn't want people who take on more responsibility and then ask for promotions. Process for promotions is based more on politics and favorites than the corporate classification guide or good work. You'll be told about mythical things like achievement awards, but they never happen.

Pros

Great people who care. Supportive of work/life balance. Lots of opportunities for growth. Has several techncial tracks that include specialized training and job placement.

Cons

Lacks in training for new hires and people on new projects. Tight schedules that can cause overtime work (ususally without any extra pay).

Pros

Raytheon IIS in Garland has a reputation of having the best engineers when compared to other defense contractors and commercial companies. Most of the engineers and program mangement staff are very pleasant people to work with. Engineers are often paid overtime on programs. The work is sometimes very technically challenging. Many employees are very ethical. The health care benefit is very good. The retirement benefit for the legacy E-Systems employees is excellent, which causes mid-career and older employees to be tied down to Raytheon.

Cons

First line supervisors and managers are extremely poor at their job. Performance reviews may be performed by a supervisor/manager which the employee has had little to no contact. It is very difficult to get a promotion. Many engineers, in order to maintain their lock on job/domain knowledge, will not share any information. Engineers are responsible for networking to find their next assignment. There is almost no technical training budget for employees. The company allows family members to be in the same organizational chain of command.
