Pros

If you enjoy working for the US government and working within large organizations Raytheon is the place for you. They give a lot of employee flexibility with time off and treat employees with respect. The work is constantly changing and there are lots of programs to work on located across the country.

Cons

Very little innovation is encouraged within government programs for Defense. Which can stifle some employees. The company is also heavily populated by older entrenched co-workers and management which can completely stop any growth and change.

Pros

Challenging high-tech atmosphere, contributing towards national defense can be a rewarding experience.

Cons

Bureaucracy can be stifling at times, and red-tape needed to cut through to effect changes in processes can be frustrating. It can seem as if the business plan and forecast for our products is not well aligned with the customer base.

Pros

Flexible work schedule gives Raytheon employees a great work / life balance. Pension and 401(K) match makes Raytheon's compensation package mostly unique, where employees get to "double dip." Finally, with management approval, employees are offered opportunities to work beyond 40 hours per week and get compensation pay for the extended work week (at the equivalent salary $/hour).

Cons

Slow moving (sometimes a glacial pace) company who reacts far to slowly to market and customer needs / wants. The employees are inundated with process, which is constantly getting more restrictive, disallowing the employee to use their best judgment as to what makes sense. The salary compensation is, I suspect, below average, but the overall compensation package is likely above average. However, the upsides FAR outweigh the downsides.
