Pros

Benefits and pay are nice Smart individual contributors and mid level management

Cons

I was in sales operations and marketing operations and the hours worked never were below 60 with sales operations consistently reaching 80 hours. I submitted an ethics report for management that we were being abused and also formal feedback reporting the environment that essentially got swept under the rug. The hr manager shared that since it was not sexual harassment it was not an issue. Leadership would yell at you for not working fast enough or pulling enough weekends and late nights. Twice I had debilitating migraines from the stess and multiple times broke down in tears or had my coworkers and employees breakdown. Salesforce does a wonderful job with their brand making you think they are the best company to work for and you are on the top. Nothing could be further from the truth. My mental and physical health declined rapidly at salesforce and any effort to communicate feedback or advocate for change was shot down. Also the way everyone over uses ohana a Hawaiian term for a white male led company is cultural appropriation ever and very on brand colonizer behavior.

Pros

Fabulous company to work for before this year. One of the best companies to work for. Culture put people ahead of profit, and employees were loyal to the company.

Cons

Company direction has been taken over by vulture capitalists. Expect to see regular layoffs yearly going forward. Stacked ranking has been introduced (although they softened the terminology…it’s still stacked ranking.). Culture is starting to turn toxic as employees and managers jockey and backstab to avoid layoffs and pips. Risk-taking was previously rewarded even in failure…that’s unlikely to continue. Pay raises, bonuses, and stock grants have been reduced considerably and further cuts are likely to become regular occurrences. Internal bureaucracy is becoming overwhelming, slowing down development and customer support to a crawl. Management is aware of and sympathetic to the toxic changes but are powerless to do anything. Even Marc Benioff seems to be fearful of losing his title and is taking positions unthinkable even a year ago. Fast growth culture is over. It’s all about profit margin now. Ohana is dead. Company will live on but as a traditional IT company not unlike IBM or Oracle. Path to $50 billion in 3 years is unlikely.

Pros

Salesforce experience looks great on a resume and provides good networking opportunities

Cons

Managers are just that, they are not leaders, all they are worried about is what deals are coming in. Managers also strongly played favorites on teams, and it was clearly seen when accounts would be assigned to AEs. Overload on resources so it is often hard to find out where to actually get help. AE's are often so pressed on their own numbers they don't want to stop and help their own teammates. Horrendous bro culture, a lot of AEs will do/say what they have to in order to get a deal to close, because accounts refresh every year they don't care about the downstream impacts on broken promises or poor customer experience. There is no boundary for work/life balance. Managers will call you over the holidays or late on weekends for updates on deals, they will expect you to put personal life on hold in order to hit your numbers. The company does not breed a positive culture, this is an incredibly toxic place to be.
