Pros

Good People Nice Building, Apart from that there is nothing else to say

Cons

Will never be appreciated this is a Korean company and unless your are a Korean you will be no one just a worthless number used for your local language skills nothing else. Koreans will ask lots of questions and explanations but will never share their thoughts and ideas with you. Even though you spent 15 minutes explaining something they don`t understand. They don`t respect our European culture its either their way or the highway. But we still have to do various Korean Culture Courses to understand theirs. They always give you the impression that you are never trusted in their company. Stay way clear if you want to grow within a company you will never move here unless you are laid off.. You are simply there to say yes sir and do as you told. Your family and friends will think you made it but in reality they don`t know that over time you will be afraid over your own shadow. Being a long time in a culture as this will do long term damage and break your confidence. Is that really success ?

Stunning Incompetence

Pros

Free catered lunches - Korean food only Paychecks cleared, benefits were pretty good

Cons

If you are not Korean, you do not exist at Samsung. If you are Korean, you can sleep at your desk, get drunk, drive like a maniac and still have a job for life. There is no accountability for staff brought over from Seoul. I have experienced a stunning level of incompetence - cliquish but polite, the staff know nothing about the type of design/build we're doing, nothing about North American business practices, building codes, purchasing or subcontracctor management. They routinely go out onto the project with no safety gear. Because it's a Samsung project, they think they're exempt. 70% of the staff did nothing but write daily, weekly and monthly reports to Headquarters, all with the same information. The HQ in Seoul have micromanaged the project into the dirt - all because they don't trust the (far more experienced) local hires to get the job done right.

Pros

Easy job and comfortable atmosphere. No micromanagement 9-5 with 1 hour lunch Good benefits

Cons

Not for the passionate ones - most of the work here is more of data entry than doing projects and making accomplishments. Higher up positions are filled by rotational staff from Korea.
