Pros

Good chance to study Asian culture. Low taxes and social payments in Korea. Good benefits (including free healthcare and housing). Probably good for unexperienced engineers as a start, as the compensation and benefits are reasonable and often no special experience is required. Even though Samsung is very Asian company (see downsides), they are trying hard to acquire western corporate culture, so the situation will, probably, become better. If you endure Samsung, all other companies are piece-a-cake.

Cons

Even though English is official company language, the ability of significant portion of employees to speak it is close to nothing. Do not expect your colleagues to share information with you, unless they have no other options. There is no chance for non-Korean to become a project leader (except for the case when you are hired as one). Head of your group may expect you to work overtime even if there is nothing to do, just to show your loyalty to the company. Difference in salary (at the same position) depending on the nationality. You may have a meeting to discuss problem of work and life balance. Starting at 8 pm. Really.

Pros

- A huge package of benefits is the main reason to work in Samsung Semiconductors. - Good working environment. - System of Global Help Desk is great. You can tell GHD manager about any kind of problem and she will resolve it by herself very fast. - Korean Tax Law that foreign professionals don't need to pay taxes from their salary

Cons

- Corporate language is Korean but it slowly moving to English. - Very high level of bureaucracy. For every your step you have to get approval. - Managers are not quality and customer oriented they are "keep in schedule" oriented. They frequently miss any kind of analyze steps. Their schedule usually consists of just 1 item: "Implementation". - SW quality assurance is so poor that you have to do it by yourself all the time.

Pros

Opportunity to work with cutting edge technologies. Opportunity to experience Asian working style and relationship :), noticeable record in resume.

Cons

Military/Korean promotion style, early promotion almost impossible despite of your achievements, you can only be promoted after the fixed time interval. Inflexible working schedule. I was lucky to work in two teams and the impression is completely different, everything depends on your team leader. If your manager follows the korean old management style you can be forced to work overtime even if this work is really useless. Also, overtime job payment is unfair, much less than one for ordinary working hour.
