Pros

1. A very good work culture 2. Work life balance 3. Decent salaries

Cons

1. Even after thorough testing is done by QA, developer is sole responsible for a bug. 2. QA is god. and these gods come and ask questions to human developers about how the software should behave. ironically QA is hired as domains experts. 3. There is an increasing bureaucracy. Top management has to consider opinion of every one.

The good, the bad and the ugly!

Pros

Good exposure to new technologies(cloud and related) if you are working in the right team. Friendly colleagues. Moderate work-life balance. Good pay for starters. You will receive a lot of help from fellow employees. More focus to quality, helps you become a better developer/engineer/architect. Some orgs have really nice work culture. Again, some.

Cons

Lot of old technologies. You must be in the right team to see modern tech stack code-base. No, you won't grow as you expect. Paradise for micro-managers. No onsite opportunities. No exciting events except TechConclave(management decides content) and Hackathon(I have had winning ideas, just ignored by the management for the sake of senior's). Racist and judgmental first level management, sometimes depresses you. Its like claiming good work culture and going 180 degrees on it. The 'you must be in my good books to get benefits' mentality of managers is cheap. First level managers have strange rules to appreciate an employee's senses of ownership, innovation and general work. I never expected racism after working for 5+ years in the company.

Pros

- Large company with long term customers. - Very financially stable company with little to no risk from a long term perspective. - Some very talented technical people who understand the technology they support very well - Very large breadth of solutions (mainly through acquisitions) - Strong base compensation - Matching 401K plan

Cons

- Over the past few years many managerial (promotions) decisions have created a toxic work environment. - All about todays sale and not about what that means for tomorrow - Executive management not willing to listen when issues are brought forward (with or without solutions being offered) if these issues paint anything but a picture that is in complete agreement with their ideas (regardless of how out of touch they are) - Have fostered a culture of "me" over "we" and point to those that embrace that culture as the future leaders of the company - Main technology stack is fundamentally 15+ years old which makes it difficult to keep pace in todays rapidly changing marketplace - Old technology makes it difficult to execute projects that go much beyond basic MCAD data management - The nice breadth of functionality (see pro's) has limited impact due to lack of integration between any of these solutions - Due to lack of advancement potential for anyone (other than Sales Executives) company decided to come up with all new job classifications which are nothing more than new titles being applied to same old positions with the hope of apeasing people. - Really weak health insurance plan (poor coverage and expensive plans)
