Changes in the structure of the work and changing job descriptions with no consultation was not a good idea. Our department has been systematically destroyed with able, competent and supportive management dismissed, and incompetent bullies brought in who haven’t the basic understanding of the role, but who think speaking in acronyms and sending emails with graphs telling the department that dates are missing from spreadsheets will motivate the remaining few. One by one, good, experienced, high quality staff have either already left or are leaving. The department has haemorrhaged good quality staff and yet neither upper management nor HR has taken note. These micromanagers have no understanding and show no empathy towards others’ needs, feelings, etc. They are incapable of actively listening but continually interrupt when others are talking and will not see others’ point of view. People on the team doing the operational hands on work are a lovely, close-knit, high calibre team but are being overwhelmed by unmanageable workloads created by inept and incapable “managers” who can obviously prepare a good interview and speak the corporate speak, but who have no concern for quality, teamwork or co-operation.
