Toxic environment: Your work life in the company completely depends on what kind of management you are under.
Pros
Good projects Good benefits Lots to learn if given the time
Cons
Poor management Favouritism You cannot talk to anyone above your Manager, even if you do you are obviously not Heard. Expectations has no boundaries. You will be compared with teammates having 7-10 years of experience from the time you finish one year in the company. You will be told you are not good enough and not doing enough even when there were no raises in 3 years of job. No promotions no raises bonus keeps getting reduced every year. Every performance review is same "not doing enough" "see what others in the team are doing" (with minimum 8-10 years experience). Guilt trip if taking leaves, guilt trip even when sick. No cooperation. HR doesn't do anything for you they work for company. Expectations without no proper guidance or trainings and time to learn. Every 1:1 with manager is just a grilling session as if taking interviews or exams. Team is drowning because of the poor management. You are a good employee if you have no personal boundaries and take up as much work as possible. Even when doing important work, being told work is not visible. Not sure how, when continuously getting recognized by other team members The teams and employees who recognized the work you did are labelled as not tough enough or too lenient for recognizing you. 1:1 sessions feel like insults, are overwhelming and anxiety triggering Team members are quitting because of toxicity in the work culture. Everything was great with the Manager who initially hired me and I was working under them for 6-8 months. Things started going south with the arrival of new Manager with the reorg. Overall you will be on your own if your Manager and upper management is similar to what I have.
