SIG needs new leadership

Pros

Hard at this point to remember any pros! It’s close to Caltrain and Lyft is near by so easy access to commuter rides. Pay is ok to average for a large older company. Other benefits are good like 401k match and ESPP.

Cons

I have heard people comment that senior leadership style is asphyxiating and impacts everyone. I've seen it myself from middle level leadership too because they lack integrity, are scared to stand up and have an opinion, and in some cases just don't know any better because they have worked at Synopsys and ridden coatails to their current management position. This is not the type of leadership you expect from a company operating in a competitive Silicon Valley job market like this one. This style of leadership inevitably causes people to become frightened, paralyzed and stifled. Anyone who dares to question things that obviously do not make sense are warned to keep quiet. Management is stuck in the past, fears change, and just plain doesn't know how to manage any other way. As a result, nothing improves. People who do have a voice are eventually forced out for appearing defiant when attempting to voice concerns. They will simply get voted off the island (with no announcement) after years of hard work and dedication. Or they just leave of their own accord out of utter frustration and the daily feeling of hopelessness. The turn over in marketing and R&D is frightening. This style of passive aggressive and oppressive leadership inevitably results in lower productivity and plummeting morale, which is happening in SIG division across all the departments. It is hard to keep teams motivated. It is the moral and corporate responsibility of HQ upper management to recognize and address the ongoing issues with SIG. And to swiftly take action. Why aren’t people being polled? Why no confidential employees surveys or outside consultants? How much longer can this really continue?

Pros

If you want a throw back work environment to circa 1995, this could most certainly be a pro

Cons

SIG really should have its own section on this site. As all the other SEVERAL negative posts about SIG leadership are much easier to ignore with all of the positive posts re other orgs within Synopsys. The current state of SIG is simply astounding. No one can truly comprehend it. The SF office says it all with it's low energy, blandness and lack of care by those in charge. Some "leaders" are given the reigns to make VERY bad hires with the wrong experience since they have no idea what a particular job really entails. And these so-called "managers" get to make really bad decisions, blame others AND don't have to come in to the office for more than a few hours per week. WHAT IS GOING ON?!?! The leadership and its cronies continue to exist and run this place without a clue or a care in the world about all of the unhappy, frustrated employees below senior mgmt. And the insane, toxic reality is that HR seems to allow it?! And partake in it! They either toss people out who don't agree with them or pose any type "threat" to their beliefs and methods. (New ideas or suggestions are outlawed here at SIG). OR they just pretend that those who leave on their own weren't worth keeping anyway. Soul-less. It's beyond belief how this place really operates and gets away with it. Who is really checking this leadership vs. down right ignoring it? There are truly so many things wrong with the structures and processes. They blame most of this on HQ instead of trying to change anything on their own. Because they are fearful of change and it shows. There are just so many cons about each and every aspect of this org and leadership that there are too many to list. We just want to know when someone is going to wake up and do something about the leadership. Why haven't you interviewed all of the people who have left to get the real truth?! We keep acquiring companies and the lack of real management who knows how to run a company is causing angst and is out of control.

Thank you for sharing, we are disappointed to hear about your experience. We take all employee feedback very seriously and will open more channels of communication for employees to engage. We can always do better and we recognize that and hope to grow and change. We are approaching our quarterly meeting and as always, we will engage with all SIG employees – we hope you’ll join us. We’ll address your question about what is going on in SIG, feedback we have received via our annual survey, and open the floor for new questions. We see that you’re based in San Francisco, our door is always open and we would love to meet with you to discuss your feedback, hopefully before you are an ex-employee!
