Pros
Hard at this point to remember any pros! It’s close to Caltrain and Lyft is near by so easy access to commuter rides. Pay is ok to average for a large older company. Other benefits are good like 401k match and ESPP.
Cons
I have heard people comment that senior leadership style is asphyxiating and impacts everyone. I've seen it myself from middle level leadership too because they lack integrity, are scared to stand up and have an opinion, and in some cases just don't know any better because they have worked at Synopsys and ridden coatails to their current management position. This is not the type of leadership you expect from a company operating in a competitive Silicon Valley job market like this one. This style of leadership inevitably causes people to become frightened, paralyzed and stifled. Anyone who dares to question things that obviously do not make sense are warned to keep quiet. Management is stuck in the past, fears change, and just plain doesn't know how to manage any other way. As a result, nothing improves. People who do have a voice are eventually forced out for appearing defiant when attempting to voice concerns. They will simply get voted off the island (with no announcement) after years of hard work and dedication. Or they just leave of their own accord out of utter frustration and the daily feeling of hopelessness. The turn over in marketing and R&D is frightening. This style of passive aggressive and oppressive leadership inevitably results in lower productivity and plummeting morale, which is happening in SIG division across all the departments. It is hard to keep teams motivated. It is the moral and corporate responsibility of HQ upper management to recognize and address the ongoing issues with SIG. And to swiftly take action. Why aren’t people being polled? Why no confidential employees surveys or outside consultants? How much longer can this really continue?
