Pros

The salary and benefits are really quiet good, so when you know you have to leave because of stress and toxic atmosphere, you know it's a bad place to work

Cons

It's a real pity because although Synopsys (SIG) has really good benefits on paper it's just not a good place to work. I mean it's a REALLY bad place to be. You have to deal with really nasty politics. It's sad when senior management will just believe stuff that people say without actually finding out the truth. This just encourages the nasty people to thrive and the good ones want to leave. It also shows that the senior management does not really know what they are doing if they can't tell the politics from the real truth. We need senior management with real software development experience... who will embrace modern tools and processes. Instead senior management is scared to change because they don't know what to change to. They rely on the old school directors and managers for fear of not getting anything done at all. And believe me they are willing to be passive aggressive to get their way. Snr management's philosophy is better to keep doing the same rather than risk a change and fail or have a mutiny. Better to have the mutiny and bring in good management. I mean when you mention you have a job lead and other's (including management) ask you to take them with you... you know it's not just you!) I really genuinely would like to work at Synopsys... but I just can't anymore. I'm checked out and looking for my next gig. If you really want to give Synopsys SIG a try... keep you mouth shut and head below radar... my best advice. HR knows there are issues but literally stand up in meetings and 'rationalize' what is going on.

Confirmation of SIG toxicity

Pros

Great co-CEOs. Both of them are inspiring leaders. They have been at the company a long time and have strong track records.

Cons

It is true about SIG. Run by children that could use some adult supervision and some help understanding basic concepts like trust, gratitude, integrity, and manners. The sad thing is they are all in their 50's and in leadership positions. They also seem to have never worked at successful software companies before, because they don't know what typical roles and boundaries are in terms of who does what in software companies, what processes work, how to implement good tools, etc.

Pros

Lots of Potential Good people under management Decent products (that could be even better with the right changes)

Cons

1. SF Office - morale very bad and getting worse 2. No communication whatsoever 3. No inspiration or clear direction in any department; no clear message about what we are doing 4. No hope that anything will change 5. Upper management burying their heads in the sand; more focused on themselves 6. Current structure does not allow for collaboration or input from anyone below upper management 7. No one feels appreciated 8. Zero agility 9. SF office does not feel like a Silicon Valley tech company - no fun allowed 10. Upper management so afraid of leader and his increasing demands that they forget about their own people! 11. It's a perfect case study of how "not" to run a division of a big, public software company
