Pros

Highly technical work. Good opportunities to learn. And above all you can create an impact by working on software which is very critical to electronics industry. No unnecessary pressure. Work-life balance.

Cons

complex code base. Many senior software developers have been in Synopsys for almost a decade, and have lots of knowledge but they lack will to share. New projects are less, mostly we are maintaining decades old code.

The company has strong financials and is the market leader in most areas of the industry. They sometimes maintain this leadership through acquisitions but do a good job of integrating new companies and technologies. In general the staff is intelligent, hard working and customer focused.

Cons

Legacy products and bureaucratic tracking systems can make it difficult to satisfy customer requirements. The development and support teams are global, requiring many late evening meetings which can interfere with work/life balance.
