      Pros

      Still leading edge database technology. Good list of loyal customers and market leader. Talented people. Management finally sees the need to change/transform.

      Cons

      Fragmented and tactical business strategy. On the ground - every account is a battle to win. In the sky - too worried about Cloud. Meantime loves to talk about services and analytics - but all investment is still going elsewhere.

      Great product, very good opportunity to learn

      Pros

      Teradata has complex and very well designed product. Work is very interesting, no matter whatever team - parser, optimizer, gateway, amp, filesystem... we get opportunities to explore and learn complex design concepts. Honestly experience I got at Teradata helping me through out my career.

      Cons

      Pay is not competitive enough when compared with other companies in the market.

      Older culture resistant to change

      Pros

      - Decent pay and benefits - Good vacation policy - Very Casual work atmosphere - Recently starting giving MacBooks to employees. This was a big benefit over the older/cheap Dells we had.

      Cons

      - Older culture tends to slow adoption of newer methodologies. The company has not been able to transition to true agile development. The processes put in place and the comfort level of the managers definitely favors traditional Waterfall development. - Agile training has been requested for over a year and never approved. - Too much process and approvals to get anything done. They do not give the teams the ability to make decisions needed to get their job done efficiently.
