Pros

I worked on the IT side of the business, in a separate building about 4 miles away from the main offices. Although my commute was about an hour each way it was more convenient than having to drive all the way to the main office in heavy traffic. And that's literally the BEST thing I can say about the company.

Cons

The atmosphere at the company was extremely depressing. Although I worked in IT and had experience working on a help desk, I was relegated to what I likened to a Laverne And Shirley episode....Screwing the bottle caps on beer bottles all day. Complete drudgery doesn't even BEGIN to describe the work day. I literally started looking for another job about a month after I started there, and ended up leaving (a full time job with benefits!) for a 6 month contract job because I wanted to retain my sanity. My co-workers were about as dull and unimaginative as any I have ever worked with with 1 exception. It was like working with robots - no personalities, no room for suggestion, no imagination. Just toe the company line and keep plugging away.

Pros

Very laid back attitude, not a high stress environment. People are overall very friendly and warm.

Cons

The right hand does not know what the left one is doing and due to this precious resources are wasted instead of reinvested in employee's benefits package. Low pay. It lacks clear communication, is like everybody want to be bossing everybody else around, there is no clear definition on who is over who in wich organization from which country, since Thermo is today a fusion of many companies that used to have their own book on how to do things and how to operate.

Pros

The company produces instrument of high technology. It offer more vacations than the average company but you need to use them if your are sick (no sick days). Some site offer flextime. There is no sense of urgency at Thermo, resulting in less stress. As long as you do the minimum they'll keep you and you'll get the same treatment as the ones that work twice as much!

Cons

Salary, communications. Each site is different. It's not One Thermo yet. Two classes - Managers - Other employees. No pension plan or profit sharing.
