Pros

Great health insurance and benifits, many different shifts and locations to work, very friendly atmosphere. I learned a lot here, and was given the opportunity to try several different jobs, I was also given many different types of training. Teamsters.

Cons

Have to work a lot of holidays, can be hard to move up in certain positions. There is a lot of pressure on you since things have to be done in a hurry, and sometime its stressful. Teamsters.

Pros

UPS has awesome employee benefits such as health, dental and vision insurance. They have tuition reimbursement and scholarships that can be awarded to employees. They pay is pretty great and they are very good at promoting from within instead of hiring off the street. Training sessions are very thorough and informative.

Cons

It's hard physical labor; no joke, this was the most strenuous job I have ever had. It was freezing in the winter and hot in the summer. My back ached from lifting box after box and I had cuts and bruises all over me. It's also really fast paced work (especially in small sort). They let people go if they can't keep up/make quota.

Pros

If you work hard and are a good employee you will keep a job. The company provides benefits at reduced cost to part time supervisors. Pay rate is decent for part time management positions so long as you do not have a college degree. Work day is fairly predictable although there can be drastic swings in responsibility at any given moment. Lots of eyes on your work at all times for better or worse. Safety is important to the company. Some of my frustrations may be local as other centers might be better managed from the top down or situations might be different.

Cons

Seemingly not much upward potential within the company at this time. The pay rate it mediocre if not sub par if you have a college degree and work in part time management. Dealing with union workers and stewards is a huge PITA at crucial times. The union is more interested in keeping and adding jobs than maintaining an exceptional workforce. Full time management leaves part time management to run operations while they handle drivers for the most part. Prepare to be inundated with paperwork and reports. Company is all about the bottom line for sure, yet they pay out the nose for labor in some circumstances.
