Pros

physical workout promotion to managers after you take some tests part time, so you can take classes as well not much people skills needed

Cons

politics around safety and work performance they want you to use all safety precautions, but while they are telling you that their actions tell you that all the care about is very fast and accurate package loading/unloading. if the senior people come to warehouse, then someone from management comes to ensure that everyone is using safety equipment. The senior managers don't bs with you they have belt managers to do it for them (who make few dollars more than package handlers)

Pros

Decent health care benefits, but not as good as it was a several years ago. Education, if you are a union employee. A part time union employee can get a Masters, a non-union employee has to be a supervisor or higher to tuition re-imbursement for a Masters.

Cons

Constant consolidation is reducing the number of management positions available. Over the last five years, the salary increases have been around 2%. Promotions are based on how well you kiss up to management. Workload is constantly increasing with no overtime allowed. With all of the consolidation and reduction in staff, the work has to be dumped on someone. Management has a "do as I say and not as I do" attitude. Extreme micro-management, if you are the independent type, your independence will be squashed.
