Pros
+Benefits: There are none better +Pension: Vested after 5 years +Physically and mentally tasking job +OT: Nearly guaranteed, weekly +Union: Competitive pay, matching 401k, and benefits +Safety Training: You will become a fantastic driver because UPS spares no expense or energy on making sure you are well trained.
Cons
-Management is non union and the drivers are union and as such there is much tension between management and drivers-like a house divided. Instead of everyone being on the same team it's "them" vs "us". -Cultural Fear Tactics: Management goes through intense training designed to use fear and punishment as tactics to motivate and manipulate employees into compliance and conformity. -Physically and mentally demanding to the point of injury. Not a matter of if but when. -OT: Overtime is not optional, it is expected even if you don't want it. Work life balance: This is a very difficult career on a marriage and family because the expectation is for people employed here to place UPS first and everything else secondary. The attitude at UPS is that you are a yes man/woman. They say jump and you say how high.
