Pros

The preload shift is great for people how to want an extra job to make around $15/hr loading packages that are not always going to be 2 pounds, sometimes 20 or 50 and even over 100lbs. You don't have to worry about that because they encourage you to know your limits and ask for help when you need it. The benefits are spectacular, you typically get around 3-4 hours of work everyday and are promised 3.5 for 5 days a week. Peak season is spectacular if you like chaos. The best part of the chaos is when everyone works together to get the job down. having that connection is awesome and I loved it. I was promoted to management within 3 weeks of being a preloader. make sure to speak up for your self when working, work hard and don't slack off. Be prepared to wake up very early.

Cons

there is a union, makes workers lazy but keeps things I guess fair.

Pros

Experience managing and training teams of 5 to 50 people at once. Good health benefits for me (not my spouse). Every day you are put in charge of millions of dollars of equipment and personnel. A chance to learn how to run an operation efficiently. Lateral movement easily available. Ability to relocate to pretty much anywhere. Company has alot of upward mobility at the moment (2018). Stress leave is available once promoted to Full Time status.

Cons

Toxic atmosphere. The normal attitude is to look out for yourself first and only. I am underpaid for the work and responsibility I hold. My benefits do not extend to spouse, they pay full price. As a part time I work 40+ hours a week 3/4 of the year and 27.5 hours for the other 1/4. Full timers often work 60+ and get subjected to a very stress full, performance driven corporate hierarchy. Full timers are subject to mandatory local relocation and assignment to a completely different department. UPS is hard on your body and will wear you down even in a management position. Safety is too often secondary to performance.

Pros

This is a very face paced, environment, I find that a Pro because it does make the time pass much more quickly. It is a difficult job but definitely not one that is too hard that it is not beneficial to you.

Cons

Very little training provided to supervisors. You get thrown to the wolves right from the beginning and are expected to learn things on your own.
