Pros

Lots of traveling. Typically not in front lines of war zones, although I heard that's changing. Infrequent deployments. Family stability. Better assignment locations compared to other services. Great benefits and retirement program.

Cons

Lots of traveling. Not for the true "go-getter" with regards to promotions. Can be called upon 24/7. Although uncommon, you can be deployed within days of notification.

Pros

It allows you to work with assorted individuals to be a part of something bigger than yourself. To serve your country and to gain access of the world at large. Unlimited travel opportunities to places you would rarely get to see in a normal work enviroment

Cons

Tough travel at times, especially if you have a family. Not being there for those special moments can sometimes be a little harsh.

Pros

- excellent dining facilities (aka: chow hall) . I know this because I've tried in 9 different ones. - very good management (especially from those who were prior enlisted) - they treat women really good (I know this sounds wrong but it's true, female are spoiled in the AF) - AF promote overall good health (free gym, PT 3x a week, healthy food in dining facilities) - offers many jobs that suit your taste without prior experience (free training!) - possibly the best place to start if you want to get out of the house and experience "real world" life - best place to pursue a career if you do not plan on getting a college degree. - probably the best family oriented employer in the US which offers a resource center for families - provides housing and allowance with all sorts of stipends (varies from base to base) - every base is like a city in its own with a commissary, library, gym, dry cleaning, movie theater, gas stations, hospital, law firm and much more....all for your convenience. (can't ask for more) - of course, you get to travel around the world and some tours are "vacations" from what I've heard. If you do decide to go overseas, aim for Italy, Spain, Germany and England. Never choose Turkey. - if you plan on making big $ after 4 years, pursue to be an Air Traffic Controller or the Bioenvironmental Engineering. All the rest gets you back to the, "high school grad" mode.

Cons

- college graduates enlisting in the USAF are treated the same way high school grads are treated. In other words, they treat and respect you not for who you are, but for how many stripes you have. Of course, if you're officer, AF treats you like tech companies treat their engineers (motto: can't live with them!) - slow promotion for most enlisted jobs, and some officer jobs . Only the pilots get up quick. - like many companies, it's not what you do but how you do it. To get promoted, it's not playing the game right but playing the right game. - there are WAY too much favoritism (it's all hidden) - doing something stupid on the outside world gets you fired and maybe jailed for a week, but doing something stupid in the AF...you're looking at an Article 15 at the very least. - You can't quit your job if you don't like your job; however after 2 years, you're free to join the Reserve or the Air National Guard (highly recommended since they also offer full time jobs as well)
