Pros

Good opportunity for advancement, good mentorship (if you find the right person), good opportunity for training at senior levels. Once reputation is established, promotion and growth potential are much higher.

Cons

Assumption of rampant nepotism, good chance for advancement but can take time. Too much emphasis on experience vice education. Often times people are promoted based solely on experience without regard to performance, education or abilities. Sometimes fails to ensure the same standards are applied across the board for hiring/promotions.

Pros

Incredible people with incredible missions. The friends you meet on each assignement are life long friends. No other civilian companies will give you the amount of responsiblity right out of school.

Cons

Draw down is making everyone's jobs harder. The operations tempo requires long hours at times for long periods of time. Also everyone will be deployed at least every couple of years from 6 months to a year.

Great sense of satisfaction that the job you are doing is important Outstanding benefits. Have had undergrad and grad school fully paid for by the AF. Great people to work with who share similar values Exciting job opportunies 30 days paid vacation a year Opportunity to live overseas and travel Guaranteed paycheck

Cons

Up or Out policy Away from home quite often Oftentimes very bureaucratic Don't believe everything you see in the commercials. Not everyone gets to be a pilot and if you want to be one it requires a lot of work Paid less than civilian counterparts
