Pros

Pride in serving your country, pay is competitive (especially when you consider your tax breaks on housing allowance), pension plan with cost of living increases after just 20 years, job stability, will pay for your college degree (bachelors or masters and PhD in some cases), great experiences gained even if you don't serve 20 years.

Cons

Moving your family around every few years, potentially deploying for months at a time, constant travel, difficlut to own a home until after you retire, you have little say in where you are stationed, hard for your wife to find jobs each time you move, at times feels like you cannot speak your mind in meetings due to military rank structure.

Pros

A chance to help my country by developing exciting research products that lead to more effective mission skills for AF personnel. Good advancement opportunity. Chance to work with bright, motivated people. Excellent training opportunities. You get to work with dedicated Air Force personnel.

Cons

It is a large bureaucracy, so there are sometimes frustrations in getting the system to move more quickly. However, perservation usually pays off in the result you want to see. If you don't like working in teams, AFRL is not the place for you. However, individual initiative is rewarded.

Pros

Better than all the other Military branches. They actually know you have a family and dont leave you in the desert for a year at a time. Also if you want to contribute but not feel like you are driving through a town for no particular reason only to be attacked by some idiot with a shotgun. The Air Force is the way to do. And if someone else tells you that they dont pull their wait. Ask them who puts more bombs on target than any other branch and who they call to bail anyone out when they are truly outnumbered. Its the Air Force not because we are better we simply have the more superior means to deliver effective warfare. All the branches are indeed meaningful.

Cons

have to go over to the desert and listen to people who may not know more than you simply because of time in service
