Pros

It depends on the base you are assigned to and the leadership in place during the time you are there. If you are lucky and get great leadership - it is great! If you are like most and end up with old brown-boot leadership...well, then you wish you had a different assignment.

Cons

Deployments, poor leadership at most bases, long hours, poor work/life balance, recognition only if you write your own performance reports and decorations.

Pros

Job satisfaction, job stability, highly competent fellow workers, job requires a combination of mental dexterity and physical stamina Every day is different, challenges abound, and it's a profession that typically rewards you with what you put into it- sandbag, and it will cost you your life, or put the extra effort and time in and end up leading the most competent and highly skilled flying force in the world.

Cons

There can be many geographic moves some with long absences from family, promotions sometimes given to the best politician rather than the best air warrior (occasionally), job can be fatal Often warriors are placed in management positions where they have no business being

Pros

The benefits are the best. 100% tuition assistance, medical for yourself and dependants. You also get 30 days of accrued vacation time each year and unlimited sick days for illnesses. Other benefits include VA related benefits such as VA home loans. When it boils down, the Air Force is a great place to start you career as you get thrown into the fire from day one. You'll learn leadership and teamwork skills to deal with everyday situations. Although non-profit, the skills you gain while in become very valuable once you hit the street looking for a civilan sector job.

Cons

Deployments with the ongoing war overseas, lower pay, sometimes stressful jobs
