      Pros

      Financially as an officer you can't find a better deal with the amount of work you put in combined with all of the benefits, down time and retirement package. As a junior person you have the freedom and flexibility to learn as much as you want or goof off as much as you want. It's all about building your own future and your own management style. Most of the time you walk in and from day one you are the boss of something!

      Cons

      Deployments can take you away at unwanted times. Duty locations aren't always on the beach or in Europe. You can feel isolated if you don't have an outgoing approach to interacting and managing.

      A lot of great people, but "corporate" structure needs growth

      Pros

      There are a lot of amazing opportunities, including travel and leading people at levels and being able to do things hands on that you would never get to do in a civilian job. Also, you will build relationships and friendships that you will keep for your whole life. There is a lot of flexibility.

      Cons

      The promotion and recognition system needs a drastic overhaul. There is not a lot of incentive to do well, because you aren't really promoted on merit or skill. You will move a lot, you will constantly get put into new situations and often times you won't be trained before you're put in these situations.

      Pros

      Dedicated to professional training. Values center around the core values of Integrity, Service before Self and Excellence. Most locations have high emphasis on teamwork. Great job security and amazing healthcare benefits.

      Cons

      Work-life balance is poor with some jobs. If you work shift work, expect to stay on shift work for several years. Work continues 24/7 and you are "always on duty" for a potential recall. Deployments take you away from your family for 6+ months.
