Pros

Leadership experience; Pretty good opportunities for promotion; travel options are good, but the grass is rarely 'greener' on the other side of the fence- the issues are nearly identical at every duty station.

Cons

There are many political things that go on in the Air Force, since there is so much done for image sake. That is the most frustrating of all.

Great opportunities, awesome coworkers, and once in a life-time experiences

Cons

After 7 years of hard work as enlisted, the Air Force bent over backwards to help me become an officer. After just 10 months, they turned around and decided to discharge me. All BS aside, I was one of the best as an enlisted troop. Heck, THE best more times than not. As an officer, I was well ahead of the game and leading people from day 1. Every single co-worker I know, both above and below, believes the Air Force made a terrible mistake.

Benefits and advancement are great. Depending on career, you will be provided training for your particular field that will come in handy later.

Cons

Security Forces members are treated with the utmost disdain by leadership. Long hours in extreme weather conditions alone are the norm. Don't count on anyone to come check on you.
