Pros

-Great pay for nurses. -Excellent benefits: medical, dental, paid time off (30 days per year). -Lots of opportunity for school (with more service commitment of course). -Diversity in the workplace.

Cons

-Work long hours and will eventually spend many days-off doing non-nursing "extra duties." -Performance reports consist of made-up numbers and do not reflect what you actually do. -Once you attain higher rank, you will be pulled away from the bedside and into "leadership" positions that really have nothing to do with nursing. -You will work with some of the laziest people on the planet, who will figure the system out to get out of as much work as possible (Air Force wide problem). -If you are good at your job, more work will be given to you. -Constant turn-over of co-workers, training, and deployments.

Pros

I've spent 24 years active duty in the USAF and haven't regretted one bit. Looking for a career that sends you all around the world, free education, medical and dental, nice retirement benefits, decent pay and job satisfaction? Join the USAF as an Intelligence professional...you won't regret it!

Cons

New evaluation system and the service dress uniform needs a serious update!

Pros

The people in the Air Force are incredible. They are laid-back, focused, hard-working, but balanced, a rare combination in industry.

Cons

Their version of "engineering" is very different from that of industry. Governmental "engineering" is much closer to program management, as the focus is on managing engineering contractors and their progress, rather than being the one to create designs yourself.
