Pros

Amazing experiences around the globe. You will never find a more exciting job. As a pilot I dedicated a lot of time to technical training and learning how to lead and motivate large teams in stressful situations around the world.

Cons

You lose a lot of your autonomy in terms of where you want to work. There is a significant and binding committment to the military. I do think that this committment is justified however since the military spent so much time and money teaching me to fly.

Pros

Technical Training Job Security If you are in to the whole patriotism thing, the Navy is good. The pay becomes really good after a few years.

Cons

Depending upon where you end up, you may end up working some truly ridiculous hours. I never really knew the meaning of red tape until after having worked in the Navy for a few years. I found it hard to get motivated there.
