Great Opportunity for a wide range of assignments! High level of responsibility placed on the shoulders of relatively junior personnel. The quality of the people I work with are Top-notch with the highest degree of integrity.

Cons

The hours can be monotonous. Deployments and time away from family are almost guaranteed. the daily work can get tiresome and it sometimes gets difficult to see the bigger picture when working in a secure building with no windows.

Great retirement and benefits. The job is truly an adventure and I have an great career. Would recommend this career to anyone looking for something demanding but rewarding.

Cons

Honestly there hasn't really been much of a downside. The deployments and frequents moves might not be for everyone.

What can I say? There I was at the tender age of whatever, looking for a place to make my mark on the world. Along came a recruiter. That recruiter gave me a job. I've received money from the government for doing things. That's good. Real good. I like getting money. If you also like getting money, and you don't mind working for The Man, you might also enjoy the navy. They'll give you money for doing stuff.

Cons

Do you have a problem with authority? Do you distrust the government? Do you avoid working for The Man? If so, this probably isn't for you. The government will tell you what to do. You have to do those things to get paid. Frankly, if you don't like the government, or the military, or doing what you're told, you probably shouldn't work for the navy. Cause that would be bad.
