Politics get in the way

Pros

The mandates of the UN are so unique and notable. One needs to be constantly reminded that the work is for the greater good over the long haul. Working with people from many different countries is interesting but also difficult at times.

Cons

Bureaucracy gets in the way of getting work done. Top executive managers are politicians. Unbalanced workload - those who get the job done get more work and no bonus!
