Pros

Great Competitive Environment, International, Challenging, and Stimulating Intellectually. Opportunity to learn a lot and apply your skills to take on different projects at different institutions.

Cons

Contracts subject to the availability of funds and continuity is not 100% sure every-time you need to renew. Things can be slow sometimes but I guess is normal for an institution that works close with governmental organizations.

Pros

Good for short term, interim contracts for substantive, relevant work in international development. If you have a clear expertise, opportunities are easier to come by versus if you are a generalist in international development.

Cons

There are some management issues and this is not unique to one agency. I've worked for several different agencies and all seem to have similar issues in management and leadership.
