Pros

- You can be involved in interesting substantive and normative research. - Internationally recruited staff are given a level of autonomy that allows them some flexibility regarding the type of work they do. - You have the opportunity to work directly with national Governments on capacity development initiatives. - The recruitment for entry level jobs is done through a competitive process, which means everyone who takes the exam has the same opportunity (regardless of networks). - Good work life balance and friendly colleagues.

Cons

- There is quite a bit of paper work involved in all jobs in the organization. - The UN regular budget is virtually all for human resources with very little budget for other development activities.
