Pros

profound job satisfaction - you can make a difference, in big and small ways, every day. Work with people from all over the world, travel to interesting places, and go home each day feeling like "part of the solution". Benefits are great - plenty of vacation time / work-life balance, room for growth. Earning exempt from income tax

Cons

Salary is low as compared to private sector. Paperwork and outdated business processes to get through, and consensus management style that takes a great deal of getting used to.
