Pros

- Pay was fine - Mostly good people, at least when I was there - Decent tools

Cons

- Constant priority shifting with leadership - Discrimination against people who take parental leave - Dishonest politicians are promoted or hired into senior leadership positions. - Lack of common sense in strategy - Surprisingly anti-remote for a company that provides jobs to remote contractors - Upwork had my previous review removed. Be warned that the score is inflated due to negative reviews being targeted.

Pros

- You get exposure to selling to a global audience and to major decision-making personas. - Flexibility in how you work, whether at the office or remote. - Officer perks - WFH stipend - The people who go into the office are amazing - Tech stack is amazing; Gong, Salesforce, Outreach, G-Suite, ZoomInfo, SalesNav, VidYard.

Cons

- BDR promotional path is shaky at best. Basically, the BDRs don't get promoted- like ever. - The organization is ran like College greek life- you need to hang with the cool crowd to even have a chance of upward mobility. - They set unrealistic KPIs and quota. Prior to a round of layoffs the sales projections were completely off. Nobody was making quota. - Very open sourced when it comes to learning. Managers are more caught up in new interviews than actually pulling reports and assisting with strategy to win new business. - Recruiter lied about quota attainment, so this is your red herring. - Sales Ops is no use for actual sales reps. As a BDR you will spend more time doing administrative work instead of actually doing your daily metrics and selling. Plethora of duplicate accounts, and bogus leads so be ready for that.

Pros

Great benefits, while most of them have left for greener pastures, still some great people at the company.

Cons

Youll notice a common theme in most of the negative reviews, and it revolves around leadership. And it's 100 percent accurate. They have bad leadership top to bottom, some are managers who simply have the role because of company politics, or because they used to work with the director at another company. Speaking of politics, this is a company where they seem to play favorites and only want a select few doing well on the AE side. but the rest are trying hard but struggling because leadership is only giving good leads to certain people. For example: A rep went on a trip alone to a HR conference where she got to demo upwork to people and meet and greet new new customers. She came back and kept all 12 leads for her self, the company didnt think that maybe should spread the wealth a bit. The product is something youre going to have to REALLY buy into because even in this current remote work climate, and the company being around for years, people still dont know upwork and upwork cant seem to find the right messaging for its product. Which means endless time spending having to educate the customer at ever step of the process on the value. This isnt a relationship building sales position, it's a having to drag customers across the finish line relationship. Its that much of a pain to sell. The company has a very turnover rate in most departments except for the Enterprise Account Management position. The BDR program is the absolute worst BDR program in Chicago. Anyone looking to start in sales, stay as far a way as possible. A new BDR rep is quitting every other week. It's an absolute dumpster fire that has been let down by terrible and inexperienced leadership
