Pros

This was an IT startup and newly under the direction of VMware when I signed on. There was very much a sales-y culture, it being common for coworkers to get together for drinks after work or even during the workday. Fun. The company parties are always centered around fun. I was in SMB sales and had the pleasure of working under the very best sales manager I have ever known or had. She was promoted, though, and this led to my decision to leave. (Our director was also awesome; he left a few months after me.) You are selling a best-in-class solution with the support of IT analysts like Gartner. It's easy to get the conversation going, and you will get hot leads. People want to work with the best... I think AW had one of the best sales enablement programs out here. I say that having worked at several very large companies in different sectors. I think those folks have moved on since my time in onboarding, but it was comprehensive and helpful. I have some great ideas that can improve things at my current employer thanks to those 3 weeks. Great perks, cool 'nalia, nice facilities and great parking. You will miss a parking garage if you ever have to go back to parking outside. You will.

Cons

Being that it was a sales-y culture, you had to hit your numbers which were sometimes ridiculous or would change. That's in addition to a sketchy comp plan. Still, I worked under two very conscionable people; both my manager and director tried their best to make things appear fair despite what was coming down from "the top..." Promotions were popularity contests and politics, but this is common. I have now accepted it as I am now at another company where this sort of thing happens... Still, even lateral moves at AW were like beauty pageants. Who do you know? Have you taken them to lunch? Asked for time on their calendar? Quick changes that everyone must adopt NOW. But hey, this is IT. Get over it.

Pros

Commission can be great if you sell a lot. There's some really clever people to work with. Good office banter. Office is nice and there's some great food and drink on offer.

Cons

As AirWatch is being integrated with vmware there are some issues.
