Pros

The older Vmware was a great place to work with strong benefits and career development but now the organization has become political, stale, and brittle.

Cons

There is no career progression in the new Vmware, one you take a job they will never let you move up, Or into another organization. Professional growth is a joke.

Pros

There are great benefits at AirWatch, and the purchase of the company by VMware means that it should just keep getting better.

Cons

The learning curve is steep here, but there are no shortage of resources to leverage.

Pros

Fantastic compensation - you don't hit it every year, but when you land a big deal you can make really big money Amazing HQ Campus in PA - this is a brand spanking new facility with state of the art demo and briefing facilities, delicious cafeterias, full gym and beautiful landscaping/surroundings Incredibly powerful vision - the promise of the software defined data center is powerful and if pitched correctly at the right level can pique executive interest and lead to increased sales People - there are absolutely fantastic people here: smart, driven, kind and genuinely good people

Cons

work-life balance is difficult - if you don't set boundaries and have a manager who understands balance you could be working 70-80 hour weeks and burn out. I am trying to avoid burnout due to all the pros above VMware wants to be the next IBM or HP, with fulfilling services lead transformation projects, however the current professional services organization and talent is not even close to where it needs to be. Most are still left over services people who can't sell, they write SoWs Quotas jump astronomically year over year - mine was increased over 50%. So even reaching presidents club the year prior, you feel a bit punished for working so hard
