Exciting technology; Motivated teams that work to win; Exec management team has vision of industry and able to move people to believe the marketing pitch

Cons

Very high stress; Quotas are not easily obtainable; long work hours; Changes every year makes it hard for strategic investment in Accounts to pay off.

Pros

Diane Greene set up one of the greatest software companies in history and Paul Maritz extended very well by laying out a very nice vision.

Cons

From a company valuing people to a company valuing spreadsheet metrics a bit more. Organization structure is a lot more "scalable". Nothing wrong with any of the above especially considering vmware is a publicly traded company after all.
