Pros

I would like to start by saying that definitely VMware is a nice place to be. Benefits wise it has it all, the company has no competitors (only Microsoft maybe?). You really have a voice in here and you feel valued as an employee. People/management are very nice in here. -Tuition reimbursement of $5k per year. -Insurance -Onsite gym -Stocks -Snacks and beverages for free permanently -They will take you to the US as soon as you join the company to immerse you into the job culture. -Constantly organizing food and beer parties -Performance bonuses -To be honest I cannot recall all benefits, but there are really a lot. It is really good in this aspect.

Cons

Having said the pros, I will now talk based on my experience as a support engineer: there's a dark side to it (no company can be 100% perfect right?). If you're a support engineer honestly the salary isn't great for the amount of work you do (and it worsens if you land as a contractor); and depending on the team you land, you will find yourself in a very stressful environment. More than certainly you will have to take your work home once or twice per week (it can be more). Or simply stay in the office doing overtime (unpaid). You will be demanded to strive in metrics while workload is immense. If you want to boost your virtualization career, here's the place to be; but be ready to sacrifice your personal time. Bottom line, at the short term it is really demanding and exhausting, but at the long term you can look back at it and realize it was all worth it. -Salary -Workload
