Pros

Uniform is provided, but the staff could be provided with a laundry service, to allow them to have clean uniform ongoing.

Cons

Uniform should be provided, including steel toe cap shoes. Uniform should be laundered by Waitrose to ensure all partners are clean and look presentable and smell nice. Very low paid, the work load is too much and very little staff are employed to help in various departments, low pay means can't afford to shop there even with the partner discount card, can't afford the special offers on the trips out or offers as the pay is so low. Even as a team leader/specialist or SM the pay is still too low. Parking for employees is a problem, they are not allowed to park at the store car parks, there is no lockable bike facilities for staff that want to cycle to work. Showers should be provided. Some of the products are so close to their sell by date, the stock rotation is not efficient enough, but this is maybe due to lack of staff or training. Career progression is very very slow and the pay scale is very very tight. Mature Partners that have valuable work and life experience should be paid considerably higher to start with, than students and younger partners. This way partners would feel valued and want to stay longer, if they feel it is an all round better work life balance. Waitrose is suitable for students that want a stop gap job, or to help pay for their student fees, but not for mature partners. The shift patterns are so changeable, that it interferes with any lifestyle or family commitments. Shifts should be changed and times of shifts should be chosen to suit each individuals requirements and family life. . All stores should be closed on Sunday's to provide everyone with time to spend at least one day a week to eat with their family. Add the hours lost on a Sunday closing to the rest of the week and allow partners to choose the hours that they can cover, instead of being given hours and being dictated to. Or, offer weekend hours to staff that only want to work the weekends. Holidays should be allowed to be taken any time of the year, so long as there are extra staff employed, like temps to cover these hours. Some families can only take holidays in half term and Christmas is a time to spend with families not working all hours at Waitrose.
