Pros

Field employees really do make this company. Amazing store and pharmacy teams that keep plowing ahead in the face of great corporate mis-steps.

Cons

1. Toilet status engagement scores and the fact that any position within WBA leadership could care less. 2. Paying consultants millions to create engagement projects that don't move the needle or take care of people within the company. 3. Running a cost benefit analysis on absolutely every idea instead of peering over the edge and taking a risk to move the company forward. 4. Suspending parking lot and floor cleaning and the stores looking like dumps. 5. Pharmacy wait times and in stocks being out-executed by local chains and independents. 6. Pathetic pay increases. Even when you do good. 7. Instituting a flawed customer service measure (NPS) to then base people's performance score and bonus on. 8. Flu shot season and all the annoyance that will accompany it. Including the threats from the boss. 9. Metrics over people. 10. Budgets over growth. 11. Top down management. 12. Intimidation towards field teams condoned and encouraged by our leaders. 13. The corporate (automatic) PIPs that will be generated in the coming months based on formulas that include people knowingly cheating on metrics so they don't get PIPd. Skewed. 14. All the people that know #13 is happening and do nothing because they are afraid of getting fired. 15. Breakdown in ethics. 16. Siloed communication and thinking. 17. Looking at the list of store managers and pharmacy managers in any district and wondering who will still be here in a year. Same for Deerfield, any district or regional office. 19. The merchandise selection of any front end(s) stand in the chain. Embarrassing. 19. All the outs in the new beauty evolution departments. 20. No mission or vision provided for field teams on their future or the future of the company.

Pharmacist - Go Do a Residency

Pros

- Excellent pay - Moderately decent benefits

Cons

-All interesting parts of the job (health tests, travel immunizations, etc) have been eliminated -Since the merger with Boots Alliance, Walgreens is trying to earn money from cosmetics, rather than prescriptions, as this is the norm in Europe, where BA is from. This is a total shift from Walgreens' typical set-up, and who wants to work for a company where someone's heart medication is less important than an overpriced tube of lipstick? -Management does NOT have your back. (Example: A known problem-patient, who had gone off her anti-psych meds threatened to wait in the parking lot to beat me up since her medicine 'cost too much'. Pharmacy manager told the patient she was no longer welcome at that location. Patient filed a complaint (full of lies), and so corporate made the manager call and apologize TO THE PATIENT and accept her back at that location.
