Pros

Employee discount if anything else understanding from management at times, few that I can remember

Cons

where to begin? no respect to emploees from upper management - short staff - no growth - incompetent managers or at least competent enough to make your work harder. No support from front store during rush hours. Assistants are O-K at times. Rude customers, employees are horrible. No regard or respect to others although the opposite is shown toward them. Managers don.t realize potential when its there and gives this employee a nonchalant attitude toward his work. I won.t get fired the good thing in this respect is they don.t care. Do your job, make them money, and go home. Work hard and you.ll move up is not relevant at Walgreens Co. Work hard and makes us more money on your limited income and still, why are you not improving? is more the attitude parellel to this work enviornment. At Walgreens work hard and go nowhere. Those who disagree are either upper management or Pharmacists that stand in one spot and verify.

Pros

You receive relatively good pay and benefits for managers at a stable employer. Everybody should work retail for at least a part of their career as a personal growth experience. If you get into a good store situation with proper staffing levels it can actually be an enjoyable job.

Cons

Training is minimal despite stated policy otherwise. Policy is you move stores at least every two years, increasing the probability of serving time in a bad one for quite awhile. Some stores are understaffed, which means you preside over a slowly declining store quality as things get pushed off or not done at all. Constant cost cutting and slashing staff hours not endearing to lower level employees, so managing is more challenging.
