Pros

They work great around school schedule and I made more than minimum wage. If you get a good store, you can really meet some nice people

Cons

For some promotions, it is all about who you know and not what you know. I have worked with many managers and so deserved promotions and some did not.

Pros

Great 401K, Paid vacation, personal days and sick time Great Store Managers, Community Leaders and DM Open to new ideas Growing company, opening new stores constantly Opportunity is there if you are willing to work really hard and kiss up for years until something opens up

Cons

Promotions to do seem to happen in this company. I am going on the 3rd year applying for EXA and there isn't room in my district. They choose to transfer people in from other districts before developing the employees who are ready to learn and grow. The jump in pay between STL, MGT and EXA is alarming. The STL in my store makes around $11/hr, I make around $18 and the EXA I am guessing with bonuses makes around $45K/yr.The rotating schedules are terrible also. You work until 10:30 or 11pm for three days and then a mid shift and then finish your 7 or 8 day stretch with opening shifts. The computer system is not very up to date for such a large company. Some of the computers we use are the old IBM type from 20 years ago and the registers are also outdated as well.

Pros

- 401k is one of the best out there - 2 weeks paid vacation for mgrs after one year - Most managers are flexible about the schedule they need you to work

Cons

- This could just be my district, but promotions are not based on merit. They are more based on who sucks up the most - The parity between EXA and store manager bonuses are ridiculous. For example, I will probably get a bonus of around $5,000-$6,000 for the year and my store manager will get $50,000. - Upper management does not communicate direction very well - Upper management also seems to be changing things just to satisfy the shareholders instead of looking at the people that it is going to affect the most. I have heard that they are trying to cut EXA and store manager bonuses which will just allow themselves to receive larger bonuses.
