Pros
Acquiring management experience, having a job in this economy, having benefits, not being unemployed, that is pretty much all I can say...
Cons
No personal life due to "fair scheduling" that makes everyone rotate and no holidays (retail). Assist. Managers basically are the abused members of the staff... they unload trucks, maintain the warehouse, stock shelves, clean bathrooms, cover breaks, clean vomit, do price checks/customer service on aisle #, in addition to merchandising, cleaning, getting back up in the pharmacy (which is most of the day), returns/exchanges, money handling, complaints plus running the store as a "manager". It is sad that I was lured to Walgreens at a college recruiting fair, told I would be in management, had to have a degree to work there, and I was cleaning public restrooms. I did not invest four years of college to do this job. I just got my MBA and hope to leave very soon!
