Pros

Compensation and benefits are good for management and pharmacist. Actually, the demand for pharmacy technicians has increased so much that their hourly rate is very respectable now. Managers and Pharmacist are compensated greatly but their positions can be very stressful and the work balance is sometimes too much to handle. Fortunately, atleast for the store managers, they can get away and take a break on occasion. But the poor pharmacist are at it hard everyday trying to verify prescriptions, work with staff, answer all kinds of questions from patients, etc... You have to be a strong person to survive as a pharmacist. I guess that's why their compensation is 120,000 +, depending on the market demand.

Cons

Communication and recognition must improve. There was a time that the culture at Walgreens was family like, and you could trust the next employee or supervisor without any doubt or concern. Somehow the company has lost that feel. The culture and morale declined so much after Dan Jorndt (CEO) retired. It's as if the company grew so rapidly that the execs., and corporate forgot about the frontline/operations people and focused on satisfying shareholders. The company fell off the tracks, but Walgreens will come back and be a much stronger company than they have been during the past 8 years.

Pros

Overall it's a well, respected company. Our convenient locations are key to our past success and will likely play a major role in our future success. Because of our locations, we are positioned to be a big player in the transformation of healthcare in the US. While it's still in its infancy and anything can happen, our business model of using our retail locations as a platform for additional healthcare services beyond our tradtional pharmacies could prove to be extremely profitable for us and beneficial for society as well. Our profit-sharing is among the best out there.

Cons

The recent growth has lead to a lot of bureaucracy and departments not communicating as well as they should. It's definitely a time of uncertainty so morale is down.

Pros

A decent job after college if you're not sure what you really want to do. It's rather monotonous work, and not too challenging. If you actually put forth a good effort, there is a good chance you'll move up.

Cons

Pretty inflexible scheduling. Dealing with ridiculous customers, but that's not unique to Walgreen's. They don't really adjust the pay if you are living in an area with a higher cost of living.
