Pros

Lots of growth means opportunity for advancement. The company has a great moral compass. The company offers great benefits. There is a great deal of emphasis on training and promoting from within.

Cons

Lots of growth means people are being promoted that are not qualified for more responsibility. While the company has high moral standards, unfortunately, more and more of the employees do not. ( Includes middle and upper management.) The company promotes a balance bewtween work and home but many managers are always "encroaching" and making employees feel they should be willing to stay later, do more, etc. In addition the growth is undertaken no matter what. Lines in the sand should not be drawn when it comes to the number of stores a company operates. The company seems to have arrived at this decision too. Too bad it was just recently.

Pros

They did provide good training for what I did, and the manager at my store was the best!!! He was very understanding about what I was looking for in the job, and was willing to help me get to where I wanted to be. When I resigned, he even tried to keep me by offering me a chance at advancement, which I certainly did not expect from them for the position I held.

Cons

Pay is LOW! Try supporting a family on $7.00 an hour. IMpossible. Also their three week work schedule, sometimes you work 8 days in a row, just to get four days off. Made life really hard for the three weeks before your four day weekend.

Pros

The benefits like profit sharing, potential advancement, and employee discount. Profit sharing has been amazing for me and I've only been in it for a year. The company match definitely helps you out and makes you smile when you see it. If you work in a new district the room for advancement is limitless. However, if you work in a saturated market like myself you have to bleed, sweat, and network like a son of a gun. Walgreens has a generous employee discount of 15% and it is magnified when their are company wide promotions like in the photo department.

Cons

Not being able to use vacation time during the winter months. Being transferred to any store at a whim of the district manager. People calling loss prevention or superiors on you. The hours are horrible. It is expected of you to put in extreme hours sometimes only to be degraded by your superiors so what is the point then really? Customers tend to kick, yell, scream, or rob you. Possibility of transferring to a bad store with rude and insensitive employees. Many of the higher ups are related to someone else high up. Hard work is rarely recognized in a promotion.
