Pros

I'm having a hard time thinking of Pros at this point. I was going to say that since it is an enterprise that there is some job security but I have recently seen a bunch of layoffs that would indicate that there is currently very little job security. The only pro I can think of is that there are good people there that I have worked with but most are in the process of leaving.

Cons

Employee benefits are being reduced dramatically. We have lost quite a bit since the current CEO Stephano Passina has come on board and merged the company with Alliance Bootes. The pay raises are minuscule, and the cost cutting is getting ridiculous. I'm in IT and most of our jobs and the experience we could gain from them have been off shored to India and Mexico. The 25% discount at the store is a joke as most items can be bought from Walmart at a lower price without a discount than can be bought at Walgreens with the 25% discount. Quite a few people have left and the company seems to be a revolving door now as there has been a reduction in vacation time for long term employees (over 15 years). Christmas bonuses are gone (they weren't much to begin with but it was nice to have them). Staff hours are being reduced dramatically and any help that we did get from corporate is gone as IT staffing has been reduced with a layoff and replaced with foreign "help". That foreign "help" is very difficult to understand due to language barriers such as accents and just plain bad English making getting your job done extremely frustrating and time consuming.

Pros

Opportunities to advance within a store are good, full benefits and stock purchase options. Growing company, looking to reach out and branch other industries. Senior Management seems to have a good company direction with its financial stability.

Cons

Your progression can only depend on your store's manager. Having one person in charge of whether or not you will be successful is unfair at best. The job requires more energy than you can give. I have heard Walgreens management referred to as "the ringer" when speaking to other companies and their employees.

Wonderful customers, good benefits, not much else

Cons

Keeps cutting hours, employees have their own little cliques, nobody has your back except yourself, unfair scheduling, very stressful, too much work and not enough employees
